Nomad GCS is currently seeking a Level II Buyer.  Please note the Level II Expectation in red below.


Overview: Nomad Global Communications Solutions is a leading provider of communication and response products serving a wide variety of customers. The Buyer role is responsible for procuring materials, equipment, and services required to support production and business operations while ensuring cost, quality, and delivery objectives are achieved. Across all levels, Buyers work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage purchase orders, resolve supply issues, maintain accurate ERP data, and support uninterrupted production. Progression through the levels reflects increasing responsibility, moving from executing transactional purchasing activities and supplier communications, to independently managing supplier relationships, negotiations, and procurement planning, and ultimately leading strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier performance management, cost reduction efforts, and complex procurement decisions that support organizational objectives

 

LEVEL EXPECTATIONS:


Buyer l

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Assist in identifying and sourcing potential suppliers to support procurement needs.
  • Review and process purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Support price comparisons and obtain vendor quotes under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report discrepancies or low stock situations.
  • Assist in negotiations for cost-effective purchasing solutions with supplier guidance and oversight.
  • Enter and maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier data.
  • Communicate with suppliers to resolve minor issues or discrepancies in orders and deliveries.
  • Prepare and maintain basic reports detailing procurement activities.
  • Follow company procurement policies, procedures, and best practices while learning from senior buyers.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned.

Basic Knowledge Desired:

  • Basic understanding of procurement processes and purchasing procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and take direction from senior buyers.
  • Demonstrate understanding and application of Nomad Core Values.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Entry-level position; prior procurement or purchasing experience is a plus but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and efficiency.

 

Progression between levels is based on demonstrated ability to consistently operate at the next level of responsibility, rather than tenure alone. Advancement is evaluated using observable behaviors, operational impact, and sustained performance.

  • Demonstrate consistent accuracy in purchase order processing, supplier communication, purchasing record maintenance, and inventory follow-up with reduced        day-to-day oversight.
  • Build practical capability in supplier quote comparison, pricing analysis, vendor issue resolution, and ERP/procurement-system use to support more independent purchasing activity.
  • Show readiness to evaluate suppliers, negotiate basic pricing or delivery terms, and manage smaller accounts while applying procurement policies, company standards, and Nomad Core Values.

 

Buyer ll

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on price, quality, reliability, and alignment with company standards.
  • Prepare purchase orders, review requisitions for accuracy, and ensure all required approvals are obtained.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as necessary to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Review and analyze vendor performance, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations.
  • Resolve issues related to defective, damaged, or incorrect products in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in managing vendor relationships and maintain regular communication to ensure effective partnerships.
  • Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned.

Basic Knowledge Desired:

  • Proficiency in procurement processes, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation.
  • Strong understanding of pricing analysis, financial reports, and relevant purchasing data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with procurement software or ERP systems.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of best practices in vendor management and supply chain operations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 1-3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage mid-level procurement functions and vendor relationships.
  • Experience with procurement software or ERP systems is preferred.

  • Advance from mid-level procurement execution to independently managing complex purchasing processes, supplier evaluations, contract activity, and vendor performance improvement.
  • Develop stronger analytical judgment using market trends, pricing proposals, inventory data, financial reports, and cost analysis to support procurement decisions and recommendations.
  • Demonstrate leadership through cross-functional collaboration, ownership of procurement initiatives, mentorship of junior buyers, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

 

Buyer lll 
Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize purchasing processes and improve cost efficiency.
  • Negotiate, renegotiate, and manage contracts with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, reliable delivery, and favorable terms.
  • Lead supplier evaluations based on cost, quality, service, and reputation, making recommendations for supplier selection and improvement.
  • Analyze market trends, pricing proposals, and financial reports to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with contract terms and resolve issues promptly.
  • Manage inventory levels to maintain adequate stock and minimize overstock or shortages.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production and Finance, to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials and services.
  • Conduct training and provide mentorship and guidance to junior buyers.
  • Prepare and present procurement reports and analysis to senior management.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned.

Basic Knowledge Desired:

  • Expertise in procurement processes, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, cost analysis, and market trend evaluation.

  • Demonstrate enterprise-level judgment by assessing global market trends, supply chain risks, procurement budgets, forecasts, and cross-functional impacts while mentoring others and driving continuous improvement.

 

Buyer lV

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of long-term procurement strategies to optimize the supply chain and reduce costs in collaboration with the sourcing team.
  • Negotiate high-value and complex contracts, managing strategic relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Analyze global market trends and assess supply chain risks to inform purchasing decisions and mitigate potential disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and monitor supplier performance to drive continuous improvement and quality assurance.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to align procurement strategies with the needs of production, finance, and logistics departments.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior buyers, offering training on procurement best practices and strategies.
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of procurement-related financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive procurement documentation, ensuring accurate forecasting of material requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes to achieve cost reductions while maintaining quality and supplier reliability.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned.

Basic Knowledge Desired:

  • In-depth understanding of strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and vendor relationship management at a senior level.
  • Strong financial acumen, including the ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data, reports, and forecasts.
  • Advanced proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel (including advanced functions).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of global market dynamics, supply chain risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and procurement initiatives.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Professional office environment with regular interaction with guests, clients, team members, and vendors.
  • Typical indoor manufacturing environment. Noise level is usually moderate. Safety glasses and closed-toe shoes are required when on the production floor.
  • Everyday workwear must be business casual/smart casual and appropriate for the office environment.
  • Subject to temperatures fluctuations if/when job duties require time on the production floor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management in a senior or leadership role.
  • Proven track record in strategic sourcing, complex contract negotiation, and high-level vendor management.
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing procurement budgets, financial forecasting, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) are a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and make informed decisions independently under pressure.
