Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursery Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children aged 3 and below. This position involves engaging with children in various activities that promote their physical, emotional, and social development. The Nursery Worker will work closely with other staff members to ensure the well-being of each child while fostering a love for learning.
Duties
- Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers.
- Abide by all Safe Sanctuary policies of Nolensville First United Methodist Church.
- Be willing to obtain first aid CPR training for infants and children.
- Greets each child and calls each child by name when dropped off by parents(s)/guardians.
- Completes Nursery Registration Records and communicates special needs to volunteers.
- Arrives on time at least 15 minutes before first service on Sundays and 15 minutes before children's choir begins on Wednesdays.
- Stay until all children are picked up by a responsible adult named on the child’s registration form.
- Cleans and disinfects toys used that day after children have left.
- Maintains good handwashing/hand hygiene after diaper changes.
- Wears latex free gloves while changing diapers and disinfects diaper changing area after each use.
- Communicates needs for supplies, snacks, etc. to the Children’s Director.
- Engages the children in age-appropriate activities, songs, etc.
- Ensures safety of the nursery environment, i.e., cleaning products and medications stored out of reach of children, outlet covers on electrical outlets, etc.
- If no children are registered for the nursery for a particular time period (first service, Sunday School, second service, Wednesday evening activities) the nursery worker shall report to the Children’s Director for additional duties as assigned (preparing crafts, assisting with preparing lessons, etc.)
- Potential for 3-4 hours one day a week assisting in the office with our office administrator.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Experience
- Previous experience in caregiving or working with children is preferred.
- Experience in classroom management or special education is a plus.
- Background in daycare settings or toddler care is beneficial.
- Skills in educating young children through play-based learning are essential.
- A passion for nurturing children's growth and development is crucial for success in this role.
