Production Team Lead

* This position is for our B-Shift opening on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule from 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM.

Basic Position Function: Facilitate and coordinate the daily shift activities, for their assigned area, to support Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost Targets and Goals. This position will co-lead the daily shift activities as well as perform some direct labor functions as necessary. Through these activities, this position will have a significant positive effect on team morale, quality, and efficiency.

Personnel Supervised (If Applicable):

· The Team Leads will provide guidance, assistance, and training to the team members who operate the equipment and package the product in their assigned areas. The Team Leads will participate in discipline issues needing immediate attention with Lead Technician.

Education/Experience:

· High School diploma or equivalent is required; an associate degree or supervisory certification is preferred.

· Three years’ experience in a production environment is required.

· Experience in leadership roles or supervising is desired.

· Plastics injection molding experience is desired.

· ISO 9001 experience is desired.

· ISO 13485 or experience in an FDA regulated environment is desired.

· ISO 14001 experience is desired.

Knowledge/Skills:

· Skill to facilitate, lead, coordinate and direct the activities of multiple people.

· High level knowledge of the general functionality of our processes and equipment.

· Skill to transfer knowledge and train team members.

· Skill to provide feedback and coaching to team members.

· Knowledge to collect, analyze, and report safety, quality, and overall efficiency issues.

Responsibilities:

· Manage employees’ time and attendance (i.e. timecard approval, absenteeism, PTO requests, etc.)

· Prepare performance reviews, obtain VSM buy-in, then present to employee.

· Participate in discipline issues (i.e. poor attendance, sending suspect individuals for drug testing, etc.)

· Identify problems (i.e. Gemba Walks) and use our problem-solving methodologies to solve processes.

· Make decisions to minimize downtime (i.e. a job isn’t running well, escalate, or move onto the next job).

· Assigning work to the operators (including breaks) that will include job rotations and is based on the operator’s skills.

· Provide opportunities, through personnel coverage, for operators to continuously learn and develop skills.

· Manage orientation, onboarding, and continuous training of operators as defined by Value Stream Manager.

· Ensure daily activities are being performed, including checking in with each work cell to ensure we are manufacturing to the standard.

· Perform visual inspections at work cells and/or with new operators (i.e. operators not qualified to perform their visual inspections on their own).

· Work with other shifts for operator coverage as it relates to vacations or training.

· Communicates to all production support across shifts (daily management board, shift changeover meetings, etc.).

· Recommended to be First Responder trained and certified.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands (If Applicable):

· This position requires the employee to frequently stand, walk, sit, and occasionally lift and/or move materials that weigh up to fifty pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Individuals must be able to perform these requirements satisfactorily.
