Summary of Duties
Supervises the Central Business Office (CBO) Senior Living Billing Coordinators and Billing Coordinator Assistant(s) positions. Monitors assigned staff performance, ensures initial training, and provides ongoing education necessary to achieve Senior Living Accounts Receivable goals. Serves in the capacity of Senior Living Billing Coordinator and/or Billing Coordinator Assistant when positions are vacant.
Essential Job Functions
- Supervises CBO personnel in absence of the Director of Central Business Office.
- Assists in the recruitment of CBO staff.
- Performs duties of CBO billing staff when positions are vacant.
- Trains and assists CBO staff as appropriate in Medicare, Medicaid, commercial, and private insurance billing.
- Trains and assists CBO staff in computer systems including the Senior Living billing system, Medicaid electronic submission software, various payor websites, and online applications utilized for business office procedures.
- Monitors monthly accounts receivable aging reports for all Senior Living facilities.
- Prioritizes accounts greater than 120 days for intervention and rapid resolution.
- Oversees credit balance accounts to appropriately distribute refunds in a timely manner.
- Maintains appropriate financial data via spreadsheets.
- Prepares and reviews month end reports as directed.
- Conducts initial training and ongoing education with assigned Senior Living Billing Coordinators to ensure adherence of Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations.
- Initiates payor appeals and continues follow-up to obtain reimbursement of denied claims.
- Maintains the Senior Living Recovery Audit Contractor Log.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s Degree preferred.
Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in healthcare accounts receivable billing and collections required. Minimum of one (1) year experience in skilled nursing facility billing and reimbursement preferred. Previous supervisory experience required.
