We are seeking an experienced Network Architect (NA) with a focus in Optical Networking to support government customer projects. The NA position is a lead technical post-sales role that will be responsible for leading deep technical project discussions, creating/assisting with optical designs/implementations, support solution modeling, Bill of Materials (BoM) creation and building requisite documentation with the US Government agencies. This position has a specific focus on Nokia 1830 PSS, 1830 PSS-x,1830 PSI and 1830 GX terrestrial and subsea technologies.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Support pre- and post-sales execution (design/implementation, BoM creation and documentation) through broad technical/system level expertise in both terrestrial and subsea optical transport architectures
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in terrestrial and subsea optical transport architectures, be able to engage customers, present viable technical solutions, and articulate their value to our customers
- Contribute to the creation of customer network evolution plans, and competitively position our technology strategy, solutions, and products to address customer needs
- Identify short and longer-term solutions to address customer needs
- Ability to prototype solutions
- Support product certification, such as vendor STIGs, for optical networking products, encryption, network management platforms and emerging technologies, such as optical sensing
- Address complex technical risks (e.g. solution/product roadmap availability) with mitigation plans and solutions which generate solid business impact
- Ability to support the NFS pre-sales during offer development phases (e.g. solution description, Scope of Work (SoW), pricing, configurations, Bill of Materials)
- Need to be able to work independently, and as a team member, and be responsible for acting as the technical lead when dealing with customers
- Need to be energetic, results-oriented, and a self-starter
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience preferred
- At least 10 years’ experience in an Optical Transport role focused on terrestrial and subsea optical transport architectures in a customer facing role (post or pre-sales) in telecom industry, government, or equivalent military experience
- Detailed understanding of Optical Line System, Transponder/Muxponder and pluggable optical technology and network implementation
- Ideally have knowledge of Nokia 1830 PSS, 1830 PSS-x,1830 PSI and 1830 GX terrestrial and subsea products
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write documentation/technical papers and present to small groups
- Active TS/Secret security clearance preferred, however; not required. US citizenship and willingness to obtain a clearance is required
- 25% to 30% travel – may be higher early in the program
