Description:Purpose of Job:The Customer Solutions Architect (CSA) – Department of Energy Optical Transport position is a pre-sales role that is customer facing, representing Nokia Federal Solutions (NFS) to government customers. The Customer Solutions Architect (CSA) position is a lead technical sales role that will be responsible for leading deep technical project discussions with the US Government Department of Energy (including Energy Sciences Network), NFS, and Nokia business and product groups. This position has specific focus on selling solutions to the Department of Energy and Energy Sciences Network.Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards:Evaluate and develop technical support to business opportunities in collaboration with Sales team/Account Manager.Support sales opportunities through broad technical/system level expertise in Nokia Optical Transport architectures and internal/external business understanding.Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Nokia Optical Transport, be able to engage customers, present viable technical solutions, and articulate their value to our customers.Work with customers on Proof of Concepts (PoCs), trials, demos etc. and provide first-level support in event of configuration questions.Contribute to the creation of customer network evolution plans, and competitively position our technology strategy, solutions, and products to address customer needs.Identify short and longer-term solutions to address customer needs.Address complex technical risks (e.g. solution/product roadmap availability) with mitigation plans and solutions which generate solid business impact.Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes and servicesHave in-depth organizational and relevant market knowledge and use understanding on how relevant areas can be integrated to achieve objectives.Actively supports the bid team during offer development phases (e.g. solution description, Scope of Work (SoW), pricing, configurations, Bill of Materials)Need to be able to work independently, and as a team member, and be responsible for acting as the technical lead when dealing with customers.Need to be energetic, results-oriented, and a self-starter.Travel: This position will require travel, up to 25% of the time.Note: This position is only open to U.S. citizens, who can obtain at least a Secret level security clearance, given the nature of our customer.Requirements:Work Environment:Typical office environment with occasional travel to customer or partner sites. Work may involve extended periods of sitting, computer use, and participation in meetings. Minimal exposure to health or safety risks.Requirements:Education:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience preferred.Licenses/Certificates:NoneExperience:At least 10 years’ experience in an Optical Transport role with strong relationships with the Department of Energy and Energy Sciences Network on Nokia optical solutions in a customer facing system/sales engineer (or consulting systems engineer, technical marketing engineer etc.) role in telecom industry, government, or equivalent military experience.Detailed understanding of Optical Line System, Transponder/Muxponder and pluggable optical technology and network implementation.Skills:Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write technical papers and present to large groups in a formal setting.Extensive consultative technical skills.Physical Demands:Must be able to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.Occasional lifting of materials up to 20 lbs.Must be able to travel domestically up to 25% of the time.Other Requirements:Secret level security clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
