RN ICU

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU, including those with trauma, infectious diseases, or post-surgical needs.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and interpret physiological data to inform treatment plans.
• Administer medications, injections, IV therapies, and other treatments following strict protocols and medical orders.
• Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to document patient information accurately and efficiently while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians, respiratory therapists, and specialists—to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Perform patient education on treatment procedures, medication management, and post-discharge care instructions.
• Respond swiftly to emergencies such as code blue situations or rapid deterioration by applying advanced life support skills and coordinating emergency responses.

Qualifications

• Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice.
• Proven experience in ICU settings, preferably within Level II or Level I trauma centers.
• Strong background in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, and critical care nursing practices.
• Knowledge of infectious disease management, Geriatrics, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), OR (Operating Room), urgent care, medical-surgical units, outpatient clinics, and post-acute care environments.
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for accurate medical documentation and record keeping.
• Demonstrated ability to perform IV insertions, venipuncture, medication administration, and vital signs assessment efficiently.
• Excellent understanding of anatomy and physiology principles relevant to critical care nursing.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and compassion while maintaining attention to detail.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS are preferred.
