What are the responsibilities and job description for the Refrigeration Technician position at Noha Consultants?
Duration: 3 months plus contract
Required Qualifications
Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician License (active)
High school diploma or state equivalent
2 years of related trade schooling or equivalent
Minimum 3 years’ experience working with HVAC/mechanical systems
Strong troubleshooting skills for HVAC and refrigeration equipment
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written formats
Knowledge of OSHA standards and local building codes
Proficiency with computer-based systems including Microsoft Office and Outlook
Good understanding of refrigeration system functions and operations, including walk-in coolers, environmental chambers, ice machines etc.
Skill in operating electric hand tools and required technical equipment
Valid driver's license
Physical ability to work in confined spaces (closets, crawl spaces, attics, vaults)
Capability to work on building roofs
Ability to frequently bend, twist, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs
Willingness to participate in on-call rotation
Preferred Qualifications
Massachusetts Refrigeration Contractor License
EPA certification for handling refrigerants
Experience with centrifugal chillers and cooling tower systems
Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS)
Experience with Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems
Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and schematics
Experience with commercial boiler systems
Background in commercial or industrial building maintenance
Knowledge of energy conservation practices for HVAC systems
Experience with emergency power and backup systems
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration systems, HVAC units, boilers, and related mechanical equipment using schematics, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools.
- Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of refrigeration components including ammonia refrigeration systems and HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/ Refrigeration) equipment.
- Conduct field service tasks such as appliance repair, plumbing adjustments, welding repairs, and equipment calibration to ensure systems operate efficiently.
- Read and interpret technical schematics and HVAC design plans to execute precise repairs or installations.
- Maintain safety standards by adhering to proper procedures during equipment repair or welding activities; ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
- Support property maintenance by performing routine inspections of air conditioning units, boilers, and mechanical systems; identify potential issues before they escalate.
- Operate a
driver vehicle for transportation of tools or equipment between sites as needed. - Document all service activities thoroughly in logs or reports; communicate effectively with team members regarding ongoing maintenance needs or system issues.
Pay: $45.00 per hour
