The Rock Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating articulated haul trucks to transport waste, soil, and cover materials throughout the landfill site. This role supports daily landfill operations by ensuring efficient material movement, proper dumping procedures, and adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate articulated rock trucks to haul waste, dirt, and cover material across the landfill.
- Follow designated haul routes and dumping procedures to maintain site efficiency.
- Safely dump materials in assigned areas, including active landfill cells.
- Assist with spreading and staging materials as directed by supervisors.
- Perform daily pre- and post-operation equipment inspections.
- Report equipment issues, maintenance needs, or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain safe speeds and awareness of ground conditions, slopes, and other equipment.
- Work closely with dozer operators, compactors, and other team members.
- Follow all company safety policies and environmental regulations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience operating articulated haul trucks or similar heavy equipment.
- Experience in landfill, construction, mining, or earthmoving environments preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of heavy equipment operation and safety procedures.
Skills & Abilities

- Ability to operate equipment on uneven, muddy, or steep terrain.

- Reliability and strong work ethic.
Working Conditions
- Outdoor work in a landfill environment with exposure to weather, dust, mud, and odors.
- Operation of heavy equipment for extended periods.
- May require overtime, weekends, and flexible scheduling.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for long periods while operating equipment.
- Ability to climb in and out of trucks safely multiple times per shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
