What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant II position at Noble Credit Union?
Summary: Under general supervision, perform accounting support duties in areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and statistical reporting. Assist the Accounting Supervisor and Controller with the accounting and financial activities for the Credit Union.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and post journal entries, accounts payable invoices, accounts payable checks, financial statements, monthly reports, bank and General Ledger reconciliations as well as any other financial records.
Analyze and post journal entries, assigning accounting classifications, and other accounting/financial transactions, records, and reports, and help make corrections as necessary.
Receive invoices, code invoices to the proper accounts, obtain approvals, process the payments, and prepare transmittal documents, ensure that payments are up to date, and investigate questions from vendors or co-workers helping where possible.
Balance member share and loan balances to the general ledger accounts, and reconcile general ledger accounts with various registers, and reconcile bank statements.
Utilize technology and automation to assist with the extraction of general ledger information as well as when importing third-party data.
Import third-party data, ensure it is in the correct format, and initiate the process for the data to be posted to the system.
Assist in the preparation of the Financial Statements, and all external reporting.
Assist with evaluating and enhancing existing accounting processes, procedures and systems to improve accuracy, reduce redundancy, and gain efficiency.
Assist in the preparation of various investment reports, monitor liquidity levels and provide updates to the VP Treasurer.
Ensure the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles are followed in all aspects of credit union financial functions.
Exercise awareness in regard to suspicious activity, money laundering or fraudulent behavior as it relates to cash transactions and overall transaction activity and document any such behavior so SAR filings can be considered.
Ensure compliance with all safety, security and compliance programs including but not limited to BSA, AML, OFAC, Branch Security and Safety.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or in a related field from a four-year college or university; or two to four years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent of two to four years' combination of education, experience, and training. Knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Experience in a financial institution preferred.
This position allows for hybrid work, which typically includes a combination of in-office and remote workdays each week. Hybrid work arrangements are subject to change at any time based on business needs. Employees may be required to report to the office as necessary.
