General Description
The Assistant Principal is responsible for assisting the Principal, including staff supervision, curriculum planning, community engagement, and building management. They must model the school’s mission and core values while fostering a positive learning culture for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Leadership:
- Observe teachers and provide regular feedback to improve classroom instruction.
- Assist in evaluating teacher performance.
- Help develop and implement curriculum standards aligned with Ohio academic content.
- Coordinate professional development programs and workshops for staff.
- Student Management & Discipline:
- Implement and monitor the building's Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) plan.
- Handle student disciplinary matters fairly and consistently according to the Student Code of Conduct.
- Meet with parents and teachers to resolve student behavioral or academic issues.
- Operational Support:
- Assist in creating school schedules, including class lists and duty assignments.
- Supervise student arrival, dismissal, lunch periods, and common areas.
- Manage school activities, assemblies, and field trips.
- Assume the Principal's duties in their absence.
