At Nob Hill Animal Clinic, our Kennel Assistants and Animal Care Attendants provide the vital foundation for our entire hospital. You are the defender of clinic cleanliness and the ultimate provider of comfort for the pets staying in our care.
This is an entry-level position where you will gain invaluable, hands-on exposure to hospital operations, medical equipment, and patient safety protocols. If you are hard-working, obsessed with animals, and want a foot in the door at a state-of-the-art clinic that loves to promote from within, we want to meet you!
What We Offer:
- Competitive Starting Hourly Pay
- Comprehensive Health Insurance packages (for full-time team members)
- 401(k) with Company Matching
- Generous Employee Discounts for your own pets
- Hands-on Training & Mentorship—we regularly train and promote our top-performing kennel staff into Veterinary Assistant roles!
Your Role on the Floor
You are responsible for keeping our facility spotless, smelling fresh, and ensuring our boarded and hospitalized patients get first-class hospitality.
Patient Comfort & Care
- Feeding & Exercising: Follow specific dietary instructions to feed patients, provide fresh water, and safely walk dogs in our designated outdoor areas.
- TLC: Monitor pet behavior, comfort anxious animals, and give them the extra love and attention they need during their stay.
- Bathing: Perform routine baths, nail trims, and coat brush-outs as needed.
Hospital Cleanliness & Operations
- Sanitation: Deep-clean, disinfect, and maintain kennels, runs, cages, and common clinic spaces to strict medical-grade standards (keeping odors at zero!).
- Laundry & Supplies: Manage the never-ending mountain of clinic laundry and dishes, ensuring the medical team always has clean towels, blankets, and surgical gowns.
- Stocking: Keep clinic drawers, treatment areas, and lobbies fully stocked with necessary supplies.
- Medical Support: Assist Technicians and Doctors with basic, low-stress animal restraint or handling when extra hands are needed.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Experience: None required! Previous experience in a kennel, shelter, doggie daycare, or stable environment is a plus, but we will fully train you.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 40 lbs, bend, kneel, and safely handle dogs of all sizes.
- Attitude: Reliability is key. We need someone detail-oriented, proactive, and genuinely passionate about animal welfare.
- Language: Bilingual in English and Spanish is a major plus!
- Availability: Flexibility to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays (because pets need care every day!).
