Resident Advisor – Job Summary
The Resident Advisor provides direct supervision and support to adolescents in a therapeutic residential setting, helping to maintain a safe, structured, and trauma-informed environment. This awake position requires coverage across all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting residents with daily living skills, including meal planning, personal hygiene, housekeeping, medication administration, and transportation.
- Encouraging residents' educational, vocational, recreational, and personal development goals.
- Maintaining a safe therapeutic environment by implementing crisis intervention strategies, monitoring resident and visitor behavior, documenting incidents, and reinforcing house rules.
- Leading group discussions, assisting with conflict resolution, and promoting positive communication and healthy relationships.
- Completing required documentation and reports accurately and on time.
- Participating in staff meetings and required trainings.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have an Associate's degree in a human services-related field (or equivalent experience), experience working with at-risk or behaviorally challenged adolescents, strong communication and teamwork skills, and an understanding of trauma-informed care. A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to obtain and maintain required certifications (including CPR, First Aid, medication administration, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, and Risking Connections) are required. Successful completion of background checks and proficiency with Microsoft 365 and other computer applications are also required.
