Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper medication management.
- Assist with meal preparation and ensure clients receive nutritious meals tailored to their dietary needs.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and organizing living spaces.
- Utilize EMR or EHR systems for accurate medical documentation and record keeping.
- Support clients with mobility needs using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with Alzheimer's or dementia, ensuring safety and comfort.
- Observe and report any changes in client conditions to the healthcare team.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in home health, caregiving, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic nursing skills is essential.
- Certification in CPR is required; additional certifications in hospice care or catheter care are a plus.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or memory care needs is highly valued.
- Strong observational skills to identify changes in patients' conditions effectively.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with caregiving, including lifting and transferring patients safely.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
