What are the responsibilities and job description for the Higher Education Consultant Intern position at No Barriers Education Inc.?
Organization: No Barriers Education
Location: Remote
Commitment: 4–8 hours per week
No Barriers Education empowers first-generation and low-income students to access the financial, academic, and mentorship resources they need to attend college for free. We’re building a platform that connects students to free programs and other support opportunities, helping eliminate financial and informational barriers to higher education.
As a Higher Education Consultant for an early-stage non-profit, you’ll play a leading role in helping to build our organization and connect students with opportunities to make applying to college as free and easy as possible. We are looking for interns to help update our website and build our monthly email campaign that guides students through the application process. Your work will directly shape how students navigate the path to higher education and how our organization can best deliver timely and helpful guidance to them throughout the academic year.
- Research verified financial aid, scholarship, preparation, and mentorship opportunities for first-generation and low-income students.
- Evaluate program eligibility criteria and ensure informational accuracy.
- Design and help implement an email campaign that delivers relevant opportunities and guidance to students on a regular schedule (for example, by grade level, semester, or deadline).
- Collaborate with the technology and outreach teams to organize email lists, segment audiences, and ensure that all content is easy to navigate and user-friendly.
- Help develop a basic content calendar for key milestones (FAFSA dates, major scholarship deadlines, college application phases, etc.).
- Stay updated on trends in higher education access, equity, and affordability, and incorporate new opportunities into the campaign.
- Provide insights to help shape new resources, partnerships, or features that strengthen our ability to reach and support our students.
