Classification Summary

Performs a wide variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in relation to one or more

specific phases of field/laboratory research or departmental project. Assists or

completes routine laboratory procedures under the direct supervision of senior staff

members.

Classification Standard Duties

Under close supervision, performs routine field/laboratory data collection; may assist

in assembling test apparatus and equipment; may take and record instrument

readings; may assist in the preparation and care of laboratory specimens,

equipment, animals, slides, and models; may feed and care for farm animals; may

operate farm equipment and other vehicles such as trucks and sedans, and perform

manual labor duties applicable to farm/research/departmental work; may give simple

verbal and/or written reports to appropriate personnel; may brief project personnel on

basic operating and safety procedures; may perform basic clerical functions such as

filing, taking messages, and answering telephone; performs related work as

assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency

High School diploma or GED certificate.

Position may require NM Driving License or CDL license.

No Previous Work Experience Required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of laboratory procedures; knowledge in solving problems maintain

accurate and orderly records; knowledge of QA/QC procedures

Good interpersonal skills; skills in oral and written communication analyzing and

evaluating data.

Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to details; ability to work from written

procedures without deviation; ability to function well in a team environment.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

This position supports the daily operations of the simulation and skills labs by assisting with the set-up and take-down of equipment, supplies, and moulage to ensure student satisfaction during lab sessions and simulation events. The role includes operating simulators during pre-programmed scenarios in collaboration with faculty instructors and troubleshooting any equipment or technology issues reported by students or faculty, escalating unresolved issues to the supervisor for repair coordination. The employee monitors supply levels, notifying the supervisor when inventory is low to ensure labs are adequately stocked. Responsibilities also include the ongoing maintenance and cleaning of lab equipment, including moving simulation mannequins for sanitization. The role requires staying current on simulation and lab equipment operation, with the ability to research manuals and websites for troubleshooting. Additional related duties may be assigned as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
