The Floor Care Technician cleans and maintains floors, carpets and hard surfaces in a hospital setting. This position provides a broad variety of cleaning projects and services required to maintain the cleanliness and efficiency of various facilities.

Level One : An individual is ineligible to work in any position that has Regular Contact With or Control over Children, Dependent Adults or Vulnerable Persons if the individual has been convicted of:

Description of environment: Hospital Setting
Physical requirements: Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Frequently required to walk and stand. Occasionally required to lift. Rarely required to pull and push.

Responsibilities
- Cleans and maintains a wide variety of floor surfaces using specialized professional cleaning methods appropriate to the situation.
- Completes specialized cleaning tasks including, but not limited to the following:
- Sweeps, mops, buffs, polishes, scrubs, strips and refinishes hard-surface floors using heavy equipment.
- Vacuums, spot cleans and extracts carpeted floor surfaces
- Ability to work around harsh chemicals, strippers, wax, baseboard cleaners, etc. (provided proper PPE and training)
- Regularly clean, stock, sweep, or vacuum offices, public areas, hallways, stairs, lobbies, landings, medical facilities, closets, copy rooms etc.
- Performs routine operational maintenance of cleaning equipment per manufacturer specifications.
- May handle hazardous waste in accordance with government regulations and company standards.
- May empty trash, linen, and garbage containers.
- May wash walls and maintain baseboards and cove base molding.
- May assist in inventorying floor care products
- Promotes and adheres to strict safety guidelines, utilizing proactive methods.
- Actively participates in corporate safety program.
- Use proper attire and PPE (gloves, safety glasses and/or face masks) while using cleaning solutions and chemicals.
- Other related duties pertinent to the unit’s success may be assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of floor and carpet care work experience.
- Knowledge of cleaning agents, equipment, and methods of soil removal
- The ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, callouts, etc.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Candidates will be screened for tuberculosis exposure and infection as shown by a negative PPD, negative IGRA, or in cases where the PPD or IGRA is positive, a baseline chest x-ray, is required; and
- Candidates must be immune/vaccinated for Hepatitis B or has a signed declination for Hepatitis B, and either is immune from or has been immunized against:
- (i) influenza (annually and proof of vaccination or signed declination on file)
- (ii) rubella,
- (iii) rubeolla,
- (iv) mumps,
- (v) varicella chicken pox
Level One : An individual is ineligible to work in any position that has Regular Contact With or Control over Children, Dependent Adults or Vulnerable Persons if the individual has been convicted of:
- One or more felonies and/or two or more misdemeanors of Crimes Against Persons and/or Crimes of Violence.
- Any Crime against a Child, Dependent Adult or Vulnerable person, regardless of its classification as a felony, misdemeanor, or other type of offense.
- Any Sex Crime, regardless of its classification as a felony, misdemeanor, or other type of offense.
- Murder.
- Certain positions may require a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.
