Job Summary
We are seeking a Data Platform Migration Engineer with strong AWS and data governance experience to support a large-scale data platform modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will be responsible for migrating existing data pipelines, implementing Fine-Grained Access Control (FGAC), configuring AWS services, and ensuring compliance with governance and security standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory, assess, and prioritize existing data pipelines, tables, and data products for migration or deprecation.
- Migrate legacy data pipelines to FGAC-compliant architectures using approved platform standards and best practices.
- Configure AWS services including IAM, S3, Athena, and Glue to support secure data access and governance requirements.
- Implement table-level permissions, compliance tagging, and access control policies.
- Coordinate PII encryption efforts at the staging layer and work with downstream consumers to ensure seamless adoption.
- Support migration of dashboards, Athena users, and data consumers to the new data catalog.
- Collaborate with engineering, governance, and platform teams to ensure successful migration execution.
- Utilize AI-powered development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, and internal AI platforms to accelerate migration activities.
- Validate, test, and perform quality assurance on AI-assisted migration outputs.
- Make necessary code modifications and troubleshoot migration-related issues.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of hands-on AWS experience.
- Strong experience with:
- AWS IAM
- Amazon S3
- Amazon Athena
- AWS Glue
- Hands-on experience with Apache Spark or similar large-scale data processing frameworks.
- Understanding of data governance, access control, and compliance principles.
- Experience working with data migration, ETL, and data platform modernization initiatives.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and execute structured migration tasks with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Fine-Grained Access Control (FGAC) implementations.
- Exposure to AI-assisted software development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar platforms.
- Experience with enterprise data cataloging solutions.
- Knowledge of data security, privacy, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience supporting cloud-based data platforms at scale.
