Job Summary:

The Facility Manager is responsible for all Mechanical Central Maintenance activities, guaranteeing the reliability of assets, maintaining plant infrastructure, mechanical utilities and providing departmental support through a collaborative team effort with other plant departments. The manager is committed to safety and embraces change to drive continuous improvement in the organization.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements and enforces plant safety practices that promote an injury and accident-free workplace.
  • Develops and implements a Reliability Centered Maintenance Program by the use of a CMMS and effective Preventive, Predictive, Condition Based Monitoring and Run to Failure maintenance techniques.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and system failures, provides root cause analysis of such failures and formulates applicable solutions.
  • Manages the installation, maintenance and repair of plant infrastructure and utilities.
  • Evaluates baseline central maintenance and utility performance metrics and provides the management team with recommendations that lead to measurable bottom-line improvements in safety, quality, productivity, reliability, and cost.
  • Develops and implements Business Risk Management processes by managing critical spare parts inventories, loss prevention activities and written contingency plans.
  • Supports the Engineering department with capital project implementation to meet completion schedules and budgets while supporting operational and maintenance needs.
  • Manages plant and central maintenance costs using monthly and YTD forecasting tools including cost management of major maintenance outages in collaboration with other plant departments.
  • Manages and mentors direct reports and implements positive change in the workforce.
  • Determines appropriate maintenance staffing levels to accomplish maintenance task loads and the use of outside contractors as needed.
  • Identifies skills/training needs for maintenance personnel and assists in the development and implementation of training programs.

  • Follows all applicable laws and regulations to include but not limited to OSHA, EPA/DEP, etc.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or sufficient experience).
  • Must have a background managing various maintenance disciplines (Welding, Pipefitting, Machining, Mobile Equipment, Carpentry, etc.)
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years' experience in maintenance in an industrial environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Has experience in the use of Computer Maintenance Management Software (CMMS)
  • Proficient in other computer software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD.
  • Is trained in the use of condition diagnostic techniques including vibration analysis, oil analysis, ultrasonic testing, and thermographic testing.
  • Focuses on bringing technology-based efficiencies to the central maintenance shops primarily to the machine shop and mobile equipment shop to track flow of material and ensure proper PM schedules are met.
  • Brings the Preventive Maintenance Program (Oracle EAM) to a functional level in the central maintenance areas. To include but not limited to Work Order Tracking and increased Worker Effectiveness/Efficiency tracking.
  • Identify and promote OE activities within the central maintenance organization

Additional Notes

Must be very flexible in work hours. Normal work schedule can include weekends and off hours.
