Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
Location: Boston, MA
Position Type: Full-Time with Overtime Potential
Client is seeking motivated and qualified Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI) to support our growing portfolio of infrastructure, bridge, and structural steel fabrication projects. This is a nationwide opportunity for inspectors who are detail-oriented, self-driven, and committed to quality assurance in complex fabrication environments. Candidates must be open to travel and flexible work schedules, including night shifts and weekends as required.
Responsibilities:
- Perform structural steel welding inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1 and project specifications
- Verify compliance with approved welding procedures and inspector documentation
- Monitor fabrication shop activities and ensure alignment with contract documents and industry standards
- Prepare clear, accurate daily inspection reports and maintain organized documentation
- Communicate findings and recommendations to the client's project team and clients
- Collaborate with project managers and quality assurance staff to meet deliverables and schedules
Qualifications:
Education & Certifications:
- High School Diploma or GED – Required
- Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) – Required
- AMPP (formerly NACE) certification – Preferred
Experience:
- Structural steel or bridge fabrication inspection – Preferred
Skills & Requirements:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sound judgment and decision-making ability
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and digital reporting platforms
- Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Willingness to travel frequently and work in variable conditions, including fabrication shops and outdoor sites
- Ability to lift 25 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or elevated positions.
