Key Responsibilities

  • Optimize Pharmacy Systems: Design, implement, and maintain advanced pharmacy informatics systems, automation technologies, and workflows across all facilities to ensure maximum safety, efficiency, and end-user usability.
  • Enhance Medication Safety: Champion proactive initiatives leveraging smart technologies—including barcoding, automated dispensing cabinets, and smart IV pumps—to prevent medication errors, monitor drug diversion, and fortify the end-to-end medication-use process from order entry through administration.
  • Drive Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee seamless alignment of all pharmacy systems with federal and state pharmacy laws, Joint Commission accreditation standards, and institutional policies, while championing continuous quality improvement and performance metrics.
  • Manage Drug Diversion Programs: Lead comprehensive monitoring using specialized tools, reporting platforms, and investigative protocols to protect controlled substances, preserve supply chain integrity, and mitigate diversion risks.
  • Support Clinical Operations: Deliver hands-on patient-centered pharmaceutical care, including dispensing, drug information consultations, pharmacokinetic dosing, and therapeutic recommendations, seamlessly integrated with informatics-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Forge strong partnerships with IT specialists, nursing staff, physicians, quality assurance teams, and pharmacy leadership to troubleshoot complex systems, develop targeted training programs, and deploy tailored EHR enhancements for pharmacy workflows.
  • Lead Innovation Projects: Proactively identify technology upgrade opportunities, spearhead system testing and go-live processes, and drive EHR optimizations for advanced features like medication reconciliation, clinical decision support alerts, and real-time analytics.


Technologies You'll Master

  • Pharmacy automation systems and robotic dispensing solutions
  • Automated dispensing cabinets (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell)
  • Smart infusion pump libraries with drug error reduction software (DERS)
  • Barcoding, scanning, and RFID technologies for positive patient identification
  • Electronic Health Records (EHR) platforms with computerized provider order entry (CPOE) and pharmacy modules
  • Advanced medication safety analytics and surveillance dashboards
  • Drug diversion detection platforms with automated audit and reporting capabilities


Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited program [REQUIRED]
  • Minimum 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience [REQUIRED]
  • Current Kansas Pharmacist license or eligibility for licensure [HIGHLY PREFERRED]
  • State License Requirements: Kansas


Preferred Qualifications

  • ASHP-accredited residency (PGY1/PGY2) [PREFERRED]
  • Board Certification in Pharmacy Informatics (BCPI) or related certification (e.g., BCPS) [PREFERRED]
  • Hands-on experience with pharmacy automation, informatics tools, or healthcare IT applications
  • In-depth knowledge of EHR systems, medication-use processes, and controlled substance regulatory requirements
