Freight Expediter

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare outbound shipments in accordance with customer requirements and shipping schedules.
• Safely and efficiently use power tools and equipment to build custom crates and skids for various product types and dimensions.
• Band, wrap, and secure pallets to ensure product stability and protection during transport.
• Verify shipment contents against shipping documents and ensure proper labeling and documentation.
• Maintain compliance with domestic and international shipping guidelines, and packaging standards.
• Inspect outgoing materials for damage or accuracy before shipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with warehouse safety standards.
• Collaborate with the production and inventory teams to ensure timely order fulfillment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Previous experience in freight expediting, shipping/receiving, or warehouse operations preferred but not required.
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools (e.g., nail guns, saws, drills, banding tools).
• Familiarity with pallet wrapping, banding, and crate construction techniques.
• Knowledge of domestic and international shipping regulations preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in labeling, documentation, and product handling.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Forklift certification or experience a plus but will train.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software; Manufacturing
software; Order processing systems; Microsoft Excel and Word Processing software.

Certificates & Licenses
Valid Michigan Driver's License.

Ability to pass Hi-Lo Driver Exam and receive a Hi-lo License.

Prefer knowledge of company products and services.
Prefer previous shipping knowledge.
Must be detail oriented.
Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
