The Senior Resident Assistant (SRA) is a liaison between their Residence Hall Director and the Resident Advisors and students living within the residential community. SRAs are responsible for facilitating an environment conducive to living and learning through role modeling, programmatic opportunities, maintenance referrals, and policy enforcement. SRAs are given training every semester to learn the pertinent information needed to perform duties and responsibilities effectively. The time commitment will vary from week to week, however, SRAs work approximately 25 hours per week over the course of the academic year.
All SRAs are required to participate in SRA training each fall, as well as the standard RA training offered in the fall and spring semesters. Additionally, SRAs are expected to serve as volunteer leads during fall move-in and participate in Victorfest extended orientation during this time.
SRAs are not permitted to teach, or have an internship, co-op, or any other form of employment outside of their SRA role. In addition, students must be in good standing academically, financially, and behaviorally with the university.

- Create a positive and inclusive community for residents through relationship-building and programming
- Serve as a peer resource by providing support, information, and referrals to campus services
- Promote a safe living environment by upholding university policies and responding to emergencies
- Plan and implement floor- and hall-wide events that encourage connection, learning, and fun
- Collaborate with fellow RAs and professional staff to strengthen the residential experience
- Serve as a role model who exemplifies the values of leadership, responsibility, and integrity
- Conduct regularly scheduled room safety checks, perform resident check-ins/-outs, and attend scheduled staff meetings
- Work scheduled shifts at a residential desk and night/weekend duty on a rotating schedule
- Various duties as assigned
- Conduct biweekly building walks to ensure resolution of Work Orders (WOs); follow up on pending WOs; walk hallways to ensure general cleanliness and bulletin boards are complete (ie tidy, pertinent and up-to-date information, and in good condition)
- Audit building keys and resident key logs biweekly
- Serve as a peer mentor to Resident Advisors in the hall; escalate personnel concerns to the Hall Director
- Create daily desk schedule and rotating on-call schedule for the building; lead weekly hall meetings in collaboration with Hall Director
- Provide generalized clerical support to the Hall Director, including but not limited to, procurement paperwork (PAW), RA program announcements and promotion, assist with RA training and recruitment (setting up for tabling, leading in-hall training sessions)

Qualifications:
- >2.5 GPA
- Junior (or above) classification
- Enrolled full-time
- Good Standing (financially, behaviorally, & academically)
- At least one year as Resident Assistant (RA) at NKU
- > 3 semesters lived on campus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to balance RA responsibilities and academics
- Students must be responsible, respectful, dependable, accountable, teachable, and able to communicate effectively and professionally.
Desired Qualifications
- LDR 385: Previously taken or enrolled during first semester as SRA
- Demonstrated history of working on a team
- Customer service orientation
- Organized and able to meet deadlines
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Tact and diplomacy in dealing with confidential interpersonal and residential circumstances
- Candidates who are offered a SRA position must undergo a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.
