Shoveler – Seasonal/On-Call

About the Role
NJL Construction is looking for reliable Shovelers to join our snow removal team for the upcoming season. This is an on-call position covering walkways, entryways, and other areas at commercial lots and job sites throughout Gloucester and the North Shore that plows can't reach. You'll be called in as storms roll through, so reliability and availability during winter weather events are a must. Long hours are required.
Responsibilities
- Hand-shovel and clear snow/ice from walkways, entrances, stairs, and other tight areas at commercial properties
- Apply salt/ice melt as needed
- Respond promptly to on-call dispatch during snow events, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Communicate with dispatch/site leads on job status and any site issues
- Follow all safety protocols for winter conditions, including proper lifting technique and slip/fall awareness
- Use of snow blowers, pushers, and salters.
- Provide beginning and ending photos of each job with dates.
Requirements
- Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in winter conditions for extended periods
- Prior snow removal experience preferred but not required
- Ability to work irregular hours on short notice during storm events
- Reliable transportation to job sites across Gloucester and the North Shore
Compensation
$35.00 per hour
Pay: $27.37 - $32.96 per hour
Expected hours: 5.0 – 40.0 per week
Work Location: In person
