Track Technician - River Line
Summary: The Track Technician will be expected to perform preventative maintenance, repair, and inspection of rail infrastructures, such as: embedded, ballasted, and direct fixation tracks, switches/turnouts, and other track right of way components for the River Line.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform routine servicing, maintenance, and inspections of River Line Light Rail tracks.
- Operate Hi-rail vehicles, small cranes, and other vehicles used in track maintenance inspection and recording as qualified and directed.
- Successfully complete NJ TRANSIT sponsored training classes to maintain and/or increase: job knowledge, safety skills, and all requisite qualifications/certifications.
- Maintain proper communications with River Line Light Rail Operations Control while on-duty.
- Must be familiar with safety rules, union agreements, and company procedures.
- Must be able to fill out any field documentations, such as Job Safety Briefings, Track permits, etc.
- Ensure that Job Briefings are conducted as required.
- Snow removal: Operate snow removal equipment (self-propelled and handheld removal equipment)
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Must be able and willing to work outdoors in all situations pertaining to track maintenance/inspections, and in adverse weather conditions throughout the year.
- Must be able to perform heavy manual labor, frequently lifting to 50 lbs. an occasionally up to 100lbs. with the assistance of applicable equipment or other employees.
- Must be able to work in crowded and tight spaces, tunnel and aerial structures.
- Must have the ability to meet color and peripheral vision requirements.
- Must be able to work from heights with the assistance of proper safety equipment.
- Must have a current driver’s license with CDL endorsements.
