What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cleaner position at NJ TRANSIT?
- Must be able to perform cleaning duties as follows :
- Clean and wash the interior of facilities.
- Maintain lavatories, and replace towels, and other lavatory supplies.
- Perform janitorial duties.
- Perform policing of the responsible area during the tour of duty.
- Perform other cleaning duties as directed.
- Perform landscaping and snow removal duties needed.
- Report any malfunctions that may be found while performing duties.
- Use sweepers / scrubbers and related cleaning equipment.
- Must have a working knowledge of building maintenance chemicals and procedures and be capable of using same safely
- Must be able to understand written and oral directions
- Must be able to work in harmony with fellow employees
- Must be capable of lifting 40 lbs. of debris
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision
- Must be able to move furniture and equipment properly to perform cleaning duties
- Must be available for emergencies
Education, Experience, and Qualifications :
- Previous experience in the janitorial preferred
- Must have a High School diploma or GED from a recognized and accredited school
- Capable of completing forms and carrying out duties of the position
- Pass the pre-employment physical and background checks (interview, background check and pre-employment medical screening)
- Must have flexibility to work any shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays
