Summary:
Responsible for assisting with facilitating the federally mandated eligibility process for the paratransit service Access Link. Educates internal and external customers about NJ TRANSIT accessible services and related initiatives. Assists with maintaining data in the customer database.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Educates people about NJ TRANSIT’s Accessible Services on Bus, Rail, and Light Rail in a call center environment, assembles general information packets for mailing. Responds, in a timely manner, to inquiries from customers regarding their paratransit eligibility status or any other topic related to the eligibility process.
- Utilizes the Certification Module of PASS Software to process requests for information about NJ TRANSIT s Accessible Services, including Access Link, and travel instruction into a computerized database, and all other topics related to paratransit eligibility.
- Use Quality Assurance reports and procedures to ensure the integrity of information in the customer database.
- Use Reservation Module of PASS Software to schedule rides for customers interested in attending an in-person Transportation Assessment interview. Generate and sends appointment letters, makes confirmation calls and updates the database.
- Assists with reviews to determine paratransit eligibility. Follows-up on missing documentation with assessment agencies, medical facilities, etc. Prepares Access Link eligibility letter after determination has been made.
- Assists with reviewing and scheduling appeals of Access Link eligibility determinations, including database updates, sending receipt of request confirmation, preparing file for review, arranging appeal hearing site, sends confirmation letter, schedules appeal hearing officer and creates files
- Performs other duties as required by ADA Services.;
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Liberal Arts, Social Services, Communication or related area from a US Department of Education accredited college or university; one year of closely related experience working with people with disabilities can be substituted for each year of education required.
- Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) required.
- Excellent communications skills, strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently are required.
- Experience working in a call center environment required.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite required.
- Experience working with Trapeze software desired.
