Responsibilities
- Define and enforce data quality rules across ingestion pipelines and data catalogues.
- Set up and manage enterprise data catalogues — metadata, lineage, and asset classification.
- Recommend and implement data governance tools suited to the organisation.
- Engage business users across units to co-design governance guardrails and policies.
- Drive data mastering strategy from ingestion through to consumption.
- Establish data ownership and stewardship models across domains.
- Champion data governance as a strategic business enabler — articulating the value of trusted, well-governed data in driving better decisions, reducing risk, and improving operational efficiency.
- Liaise with business unit leaders and key stakeholders to build awareness and buy-in for governance initiatives, translating technical standards into business-relevant outcomes.
- Act as a governance advocate across the organisation — conducting working sessions, training, and roadshows to embed a data-ownership culture at every level of the business.
Requirements
- 10 years in data governance, data management, or data engineering.
- Hands-on with DQ rule definition, data catalogue setup, and ingestion pipeline governance.
- Experienced in evaluating and deploying DG platforms (Purview, Collibra, Alation, etc.).
- Strong communicator — able to translate governance concepts for business stakeholders.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and MDM principles.
