We are looking for a passionate and talented individual to join our team as a Production Supervisor for second (2nd) shift (3:00pm-11:30pm) at our Lakewood, NJ location.
Position Summary:
The Supervisor, Production maintains presence on the shop floor to manage any issues that arise during the shift. Supervisors should monitor employee behavior and process conditions to prevent injuries or other problems that could lead to wasted time or material.
Essential duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Monitors “non-standard” work to assure safety.
- Leads regular shop floor Safety meetings and discussions.
- Notifies manager and appropriate departments of unsafe conditions.
- Leading 5S activities to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.
- Ensuring employees adhere to all HR and Operational policies and procedures.
- Directing work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with quality specifications and operating safety policy and procedures are followed throughout the plant.
- Ensures safety policy and procedures are followed throughout the plant.
- Trains employees on working safely and wearing required protective equipment.
- Works closely with production workers and maintenance staff to correct problems in a timely manner.
- Ensures that staff is properly trained on quality requirements, specifications, and procedures so that all production and quality standards are met.
- Maintains required production and environmental records.
- Oversees inventory transactions, cycle counting, organizing semi-annual physical inventories, reconciling discrepancies and variances.
- Maintains electronic time keeping system for the shift.
- Communicates schedules to employees and adjusts as needed as problems or opportunities arise.
- Maintains discipline on the shift and works closely with the management to ensure consistent application of the work rules.
- Conducts employee appraisals in coordination with management.
- Ensures the department maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
- Inputs daily production data into appropriate control system.
- Coordinates with maintenance and engineering staff, any necessary repairs and normal maintenance requirements.
- Maintains inventory of department supplies including but not limited to general office supplies, equipment supplies, and PPE supplies.
- The Shift Supervisor may perform other functions that may be assigned.
Education and Experience:
· A minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
· Minimum of 7 years’ experience in manufacturing operations R&D, Engineering; previous supervisor or management experience a plus; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Previous experience as a Boiler Operator strongly preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills required.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing software, statistical methods and data analysis, and quality assurance protocols.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Ability to handle high pressure and critical decision-making scenarios efficiently.
- Excellent organizational skills to plan production schedules and ensure the availability of materials and equipment.
- Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve issues within the production process.
- Effective time-management skills to minimize downtime and optimize team efficiency.
- Ability to cope with pressure and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in Kaizen and Process Improvement.
- Familiarity with ERP software and reporting tools is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and planning skills to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
- Prior experience in improving employee satisfaction.
- Strong computer experience required; Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and JD Edwards is strongly preferred.
