What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Supervisor position at Nissin International Transport U.S.A., Inc.?
Location: Gardena, CA
Schedule: On-site for the first 3 months; after that, hybrid with 2 days per week on-site
Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000, plus a non-discretionary bonus
Status: Full-time, exempt
Reports to: Sr. Accounting Manager-Operation
Daily Accounting Operations
• Process vendor invoices, payments, and employee reimbursements.
• Prepare and post ACH payments, wire transfers, and related journal entries.
• Provide backup support for payment proposal review and processing when the AP Supervisor is unavailable.
• Maintain and update vendor files to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Review routine payment-related documentation for completeness.
Reconciliation & Month-End Support
• Reconcile assigned vendor accounts, credit card statements, and balance sheet accounts.
• Support month-end close activities such as basic accrual preparation and reconciliation follow-up.
• Assist with cost sales analysis for assigned branches.
• Support CNS CASS reconciliation and related tasks.
Team Leadership
• Supervise accounting staff, providing routine guidance, task oversight, and basic training.
• Monitor daily workload and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
• Supervisory scope may expand as the Accounting department grows and as GL and Operations functions are integrated.
Cross-Department Coordination
• Communicate with Operations, Sales, and other departments to resolve routine accounting issues.
• Respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
• Assist with vendor or customer registration reviews.
Issue Resolution & Documentation
• Identify and resolve basic accounting discrepancies.
• Compile and organize documentation for business transactions.
• Escalate complex issues to the Accounting Manager or Sr. Accounting Manager as needed.
Ad Hoc Support
• Provide coverage for team members during absences.
• Assist with department projects and process updates related to the GL Operations integration.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager to ensure all necessary tasks are covered.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• 5–10 years of operational accounting experience.
• Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) and Word.
• SAP experience preferred.
• Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and SOX/J-SOX is a plus.
