Position Summary

The Machine Operator is an integral part of our manufacturing team. Primary responsibilities include the setup and operations of any of the following machines – coater, slitter, metallizer, or sheet, while ensuring customer satisfaction, quality, and safety.  This position reports to a Shift Supervisor. Work schedule will be 12-hour rotating evenings, 7 PM -7 AM, but will require flexibility and the ability to work overtime as needed. 

Qualifications:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate coating, slitting, metalizing, or sheeting machines.
  • Set up machines within established tolerance levels and monitor all necessary adjustments. 
  • Operate overhead hoists, trucks, and dollies to transport materials to and from the machine. Load rolls of paper onto the machines.
  • Prioritize safety: identify and report opportunities accordingly, demonstrate “Safety first” in daily activities.
  • 5S: execute the shift checklist, be an active member of the 5S Program (cleaning, organizing items, and labeling), continuous improvement mindset.
  • Monitor the quality of the product throughout the process. Conduct various tests to determine whether the product complies with established specifications.
  • Monitor the condition of equipment and process control devices to ensure that they are in proper working condition.
  •   Identify malfunctions, process problems, and unusual conditions and report such situations to the supervisor. 
  • Use the ERP Microsoft Dynamics to register production and inventory changes.
  • Clean machine and work area in accordance with established specifications.
  • Work from production schedule, work orders, specification sheets, checklists, and verbal instructions to attain required production quantities with appropriate quality levels.

 

Required Qualification:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding English, and good communication skills are required
  • Proficient in basic math, able to perform basic arithmetic, i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, including decimals and fractions, simple use of formulas, charts, drawings, specifications, schedules, checking of reports, forms, records, and comparable data where interpretation is required. 
  • Experience with 5S
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate a forklift preferred but not required.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend safety policies and regulations, as well as basic product and process documentation.
  • Capable of using judgement to plan and perform set-ups and operate within standard procedures.
  • Strong creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Be an enthusiastic member of the training program: trainer and trainee when required.
  • Take an active role in the analysis and troubleshooting process to correct problems.
