Roof Truss Designer – Building Components
Nisbet Brower Building Products is looking for a Roof Truss Designer to join our Components team. This position will focus initially on roof truss design, with the opportunity to cross-train and develop into Panel Design as the individual becomes familiar with our products, processes, and customers.
We are open to experienced truss designers as well as candidates with related construction design, CAD, estimating, or building-component experience who have the technical aptitude and interest to grow into the role.
What You’ll Do
- Review architectural drawings, blueprints, specifications, and customer information to develop accurate roof truss designs and layouts.
- Create designs and production-ready information for manufacturing.
- Review plans for potential design conflicts, missing information, or other issues requiring clarification.
- Work closely with Sales, Estimating, Production, and customers to resolve design questions and ensure project requirements are understood.
- Make design revisions based on plan changes, field conditions, or customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate project drawings, files, and design documentation.
- Apply applicable building codes, engineering requirements, and company design standards.
- Provide technical support related to truss layouts and component design as needed.
- Learn Nisbet Brower’s Panel Design processes and gradually cross-train into panel design responsibilities.
Qualifications:
What We’re Looking For
- Previous roof truss, building component, construction design, CAD, drafting, or related experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural/construction plans and blueprints.
- Understanding of residential construction and building materials is highly desirable.
- Experience with truss/component design software is a plus.
- Strong math and spatial-reasoning skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with Sales, Production, Estimating, and other departments.
- Willingness and ability to learn additional component-design functions, including Panel Design.
