Senior Business Analyst — eDiscovery & Process Automation

NIRA, Inc.
Washington, DC Full Time
POSTED ON 8/7/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/6/2031

NIRA, Inc. is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support a U.S. Department of Justice digital evidence management and eDiscovery program serving U.S. Attorneys' Offices nationwide. The analyst will serve as the bridge between legal-operations stakeholders and the technical delivery team - eliciting requirements, mapping and optimizing evidence-handling and litigation workflows, and identifying automation opportunities across evidence intake, review, and production.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit, document, and validate business and functional requirements from attorneys, paralegals, litigation support staff, and program stakeholders; translate them into user stories and acceptance criteria for Agile delivery
  • Map current-state evidence and eDiscovery workflows (intake, processing, review, production) and design optimized future-state processes
  • Identify, prioritize, and specify process automation opportunities; partner with engineers to implement workflow automation and measure efficiency gains
  • Define integration requirements between the evidence platform and eDiscovery review tools (e.g., Relativity, Everlaw), case management, and ITSM systems
  • Develop process documentation, SOPs, and training materials; support user acceptance testing, including test scenario development and defect triage
  • Analyze adoption telemetry and operational metrics to recommend continuous improvements
  • Support program cadence: sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, status reporting, and risk/issue tracking

Required Qualifications

  • 8 years of business analysis experience, including at least 2 years supporting eDiscovery, litigation support, or legal technology programs
  • Working knowledge of the EDRM lifecycle and hands-on experience with eDiscovery platforms (Relativity, Everlaw, or comparable)
  • Demonstrated process improvement and automation experience - process mapping (BPMN or similar), workflow automation requirements, and measurable efficiency outcomes
  • Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and process documentation in Agile environments
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills across legal and technical audiences
  • U.S. citizenship required; must be able to obtain and maintain a DOJ High-Risk Public Trust (Tier 4) background investigation
  • Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Federal experience, ideally with DOJ, EOUSA, or law enforcement clients
  • Familiarity with digital forensics tools (e.g., Cellebrite) and chain-of-custody requirements
  • Experience in FedRAMP-authorized cloud/SaaS environments
  • Proficiency with data analysis and reporting tools (SQL, Power BI, or Tableau)
