SAP FICO ECC & S4/HANA Functional Consultant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on SAP ECC Finance and Controlling (FICO) with deep expertise in FI,

CO, FA, and CO-PA. The individual will support and improve the existing SAP environment, resolve complex Finance

and Controlling issues, strengthen month-end and year-end processes, and raise the knowledge and capabilities of

the existing SAP and Finance team. The role requires the ability to identify and correct poor or inefficient ECC

processes and establish sustainable SAP best practices. Fluency in English and Spanish is required; Portuguese is a

plus

Security is a foundational element of every solution you deliver not an afterthought. From requirements gathering

and design through coding, testing, and CI‑CD pipeline configuration, you will embed robust security controls (e.g.,

authorization checks, secure coding standards, data‑privacy safeguards, and compliance with SAP security best

practices) into each deployment. This proactive, end‑to‑end approach ensures that current changes to the ECC and

future S4/HANA landscape meet the highest security standards before they reach production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: ·

• Serve as the hands-on subject matter expert for SAP ECC Finance and Controlling, including FI-GL, FI-AP, FI-AR, FI-AA, CO, Cost Center Accounting, Profit Center Accounting, Internal Orders, Product Costing, and related financial processes.
• Provide expert-level support for CO-PA / Profitability Analysis, including characteristics, value fields, derivation, profitability segments, allocations, settlements, reporting, and FI/CO integration.
• Analyze complex SAP Finance and Controlling issues, determine root cause, and implement or recommend appropriate corrective actions rather than relying on workarounds. · Review existing ECC processes and configuration to identify incorrect, inefficient, outdated, or unnecessarily manual practices and drive their correction.
• Support and improve monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes, including accruals, allocations, settlements, foreign currency valuation, depreciation, reconciliation, costing, variances, and CO-PA processing. ·
• Ensure accurate reconciliation and data flow between FI, CO, CO-PA, and related SAP business processes.
• Provide expert knowledge of SAP financial data structures and organizational structures, including company codes, controlling areas, ledgers, chart of accounts, profit centers, cost centers, segments, functional areas, and CO-PA structures.
• Support financial consolidation and reporting processes and identify data-structure issues that may affect financial reporting or consolidation.
• Work directly with Finance, Accounting, and SAP teams to translate business requirements into effective SAP solutions.
• Assess the existing team's SAP FICO knowledge, identify gaps, and provide hands-on mentoring, coaching, documentation, and knowledge-transfer sessions.
• Establish repeatable, documented, and supportable SAP Finance processes and reduce dependency on individual consultants or undocumented tribal knowledge.
• Evaluate current ECC configuration, customizations, master data, and processes for potential impact on a future SAP S/4HANA migration.
• Provide practical guidance regarding ECC-to-S/4HANA Finance changes, including Universal Journal/ACDOCA, Asset Accounting, Material Ledger, CO-PA, master data, data migration, and relevant simplification considerations.
• Collaborate with other SAP functional teams, including SD and MM, to resolve cross-functional FI/CO integration issues.
• Communicate complex SAP and financial concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Managerial Responsibilities:

• This is primarily a subject matter expert and hands-on individual contributor role. The position is responsible for mentoring and developing the knowledge of SAP and Finance team members, coordinating work related to FICO issues and process improvements, and providing functional direction.
• Lead regular functional and process-improvement initiatives (e.g., DevOps for SAP, automated testing).
• Encourage adoption of emerging SAP technologies across functional teams and consultant engagements.

Education, Certifications and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related
• field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of hands-on SAP Finance and Controlling experience, with significant SAP ECC
• experience.
• Extensive experience with SAP ECC 6.0; EHP7 experience strongly preferred.
• Expert-level experience with SAP FI, CO, FA, and CO-PA in a production environment.
• Demonstrated experience supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close.
• Demonstrated experience with financial consolidation, reconciliation, and SAP financial data structures.
• Experience improving, remediating, or standardizing legacy SAP processes.
• Working knowledge of SAP S4/HANA Finance and ECC-to-S4/HANA migration considerations.
• SAP FICO certification is preferred.
• Fluent English and Spanish are required. Portuguese language capability is a plus.

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

• Expert SAP ECC FICO functional knowledge with the ability to work directly in SAP and troubleshoot issues independently.
• Expert CO-PA knowledge, including both costing-based and account-based concepts and their relationship to FI and CO
• Strong accounting and financial-process knowledge, including general ledger, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, controlling, close, consolidation, and financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of SAP organizational structures and financial master data. · Strong understanding of FI/CO integration with SD, MM, and other SAP modules.
• Ability to analyze SAP documents, configuration, master data, and data flows to identify root causes.
• Ability to distinguish between SAP standard functionality, appropriate customization, and poor legacy processes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and process-improvement skills. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
• Ability to train, mentor, and elevate the knowledge level of an existing SAP and Finance team. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Finance, IT, business stakeholders, and external partners.
• Strong communication skills – able to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. Team player mentality with a proactive attitude toward mentorship and knowledge sharing. Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced, multi‑project environment and meet strict deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

• This is primarily an office position requiring prolonged computer use, including reviewing SAP transactions and data, developing documentation, participating in meetings, and communicating with business and technical teams.
• Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
• Ability to occasionally lift and move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including overnight travel.
• Ability to work outside normal business hours during critical incidents, maintenance windows, or major infrastructure projects.
