Lead Electrical Supervisor

Nino Development has partnered with a highly successful prime Naval and Commercial Ship Repair contractor in the Norfolk, VA area on their search for a Lead Mechanic Supervisor (Electrical, Outside Machining, Rigging) with experience supporting rigging, electrical or outside machining operations for both naval and ship repair customers.

This position specifically supports rigging, electrical or machining operations.

Job Title: Lead Mechanic Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs skilled tasking (relative to their assigned trade - rigging) in the maintenance, repair, installation/removal, new construction, etc. activities supporting ship repair/industrial fabrication operations.
• Executes and oversees rigging operations including the selection and use of slings, shackles, spreader bars, and other lifting devices for safe and effective movement of ship components and heavy equipment.
• Ensures rigging plans are developed and followed, including lift calculations, center of gravity assessments, and coordination with crane operators.
• Supports management to facilitate daily production activities of the team and helps ensure employees (assigned to their work crew) have all necessary tools, equipment, work procedures, etc. to work safely and efficiently.
• May assist management with timekeeping validation, training, performance management, coaching/counselling, supervision, etc. for employees assigned to their work crews.
• Breaks broader production requirements down to practical action plans to support safety, quality, cost, and schedule goals while providing constant monitoring of job sites.
• Utilizing their production knowledge, make recommendations to support plans for their assigned projects and utilizing their assigned resources to efficiently achieve operational requirements of projects.
• Evaluates job sites and work environments prior to work starting to ensure safe project set ups and efficient work evolutions.

Skills & Qualification:

• Bachelors or Registered Apprentice (grad) or HS 6 years related trade experience (in the trade to be supervised)
• Must have experience in crane cable removal and install.
• Ability to understand job specifications, drawings, and corresponding technical references.
• Must have knowledge of OSHA 1915 for Shipyard and OSHA 1926 for Commercial Vessels.
• Must have previous supervisory experience.
• Must have expert knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and instruments associated with the trade.
• Must be able to work effectively with others.
• Must be a steady, reliable worker.
• Must be able to comprehend and follow complex instructions.
• Must be self-motivated and able to complete responsibilities with minimal direction.

Travel Requirements:

• Minimal Travel; 10% or less

Security Requirements:

• Position requires you to obtain and maintain access to Government Facilities (DBIDS).
• Position requires US Citizenship
