Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using safe lifting practices and patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor vital signs, observe patient conditions, and document medical information accurately using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and EMR systems.
- Administer medications and treatments following prescribed orders while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
- Support patients with specialized needs including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, hospice care, and infectious disease management.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams in acute care settings such as ICU, emergency medicine, Level I & II trauma centers, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), and surgical units to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Assist with medical procedures requiring aseptic technique, catheter care, phlebotomy, and other clinical tasks within medical-surgical or outpatient environments.
- Communicate clearly with patients and their families to provide education on health conditions and promote a comforting environment for individuals with disabilities or chronic illnesses.
Skills
- Proven experience working in diverse healthcare settings including hospitals, long-term care facilities, outpatient clinics, or home & community care environments.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and patient transfer methods essential for safe caregiving practices.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and record management.
- Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR, and medication administration are required; additional certifications like DME (Durable Medical Equipment) or hospice training are a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining proper body mechanics; experience with manual handling equipment such as Hoyer lifts is advantageous.
- Excellent caregiver communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and provide compassionate patient service.
- Experience working with geriatric patients or individuals with disabilities including dementia or Alzheimer’s disease enhances your fit for this role.
