Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately while adhering to aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
- Provide specialized care in areas such as ICU, emergency medicine, cardiology (including catheterization procedures), ophthalmology, geriatrics, pediatrics, or hospice & palliative medicine based on your expertise.
- Assist with complex procedures including suturing, tube feeding, ventilator management, dialysis support, and wound care such as ostomy or wound dressing changes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with NCQA standards and ICD coding requirements for precise documentation.
- Conduct patient education on health coaching topics like medication management, nutrition, pain control, and discharge planning to empower patients in their recovery journey.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols during specimen collection/processing and laboratory testing while maintaining accurate medical records for legal and billing purposes.
Skills
- Extensive experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for documentation and order entry.
- Proficiency in critical care procedures including ICU experience, trauma medicine at Level I/II trauma centers or emergency room settings.
- Skilled in advanced nursing techniques such as IV insertion/infusion, phlebotomy, venipuncture, catheterization (urinary or vascular), and sterile processing.
- Knowledge of physiology principles related to patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation across various specialties including cardiology (ICD-10/ICD-9 coding), infectious disease care, behavioral health, or geriatrics.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including children (pediatrics), seniors (long-term & memory care), individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges.
- Strong understanding of OSHA standards for aseptic technique and infection control practices within hospital or outpatient environments.
- Experience managing acute pain cases, post-operative recovery, hospice care needs or working within a teaching hospital setting is highly valued.
