What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hotel Maintenance Engineer position at NightStar Lodging?

Manage all engineering/maintenance operations of the hotel(s). Respond and attend to repair requests. Maintain the building and grounds with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection. Responsibilities include maintaining all equipment, systems and building components including, but not limited to; mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks, furniture, paint, wall coverings, tile and other equipment.
Some of your responsibilities include:
- Builds, repairs, and paints all parts of the hotel.
- Install and replace lighting fixtures and bulbs.
- Clean carpets and rugs.
- Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
- Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
- Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
- Repair and maintain the physical structure of the hotel.
- Fabricate and repairs furniture and fixtures.
- Attend all scheduled training classes and meetings.
- Paint corridors, hotel rooms, and lobby areas when necessary.
- Transport heavy boxes and packages within the hotel for maintenance and repairs.
- Assist in delivering and setup of all new equipment such as televisions, mattresses, tables, chairs, etc.
- Ensure routine preventive maintenance on equipment is done. This is including, but not limited to laundry equipment, heating, and air condition units, ice machines, fire extinguishers, fire/smoke alarms, lawn sprinklers, fire equipment and plumbing.
- Setup banquet rooms according to event specifications.
- Respond to all customer requests in a timely and personable manner.
- Ensure fulfillment of preventative maintenance program to specific brand standards.
- Maintain a work order assignment program for completed and pending work orders. Prioritize and complete work orders in a timely manner. Monitor all deficiencies. Communicate to the requesting party upon completion when needed.
- Ensure swimming pool maintenance duties are performed according to manufacturer specifications and local Health Department Regulations.
- Coordinate with other departments to fulfill guest special requests. Constant and effective communication required.
What You Bring:
- Previous experience as a hotel engineer is preferred or comparable maintenance experience at an establishment such as an apartment complex or office building.
- Ability to work long hours, without sitting.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, ability to multitask.
- Possess the ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms, work under variable temperatures and noise levels.
- Flexible schedule: must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
