What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nightlife General Manager position at Nightclub Clt?
We are seeking a proven, hands-on Nightlife General Manager to lead the next phase of operational improvement and revenue growth for a confidential upscale entertainment and hospitality venue in the Charlotte area.
This is not an office-only management position or a promoter-only role. We need an experienced operator who can assess the business quickly, make disciplined decisions, build revenue, control costs and lead the team directly from the floor.
The ideal candidate has successfully managed, improved or helped turn around a nightclub, upscale lounge, high-volume bar or entertainment-driven hospitality venue. This individual must be prepared to take immediate ownership of revenue, labor, operating costs, employee performance, programming and guest experience.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a high-ownership, action-oriented operator who has already produced measurable results within the nightlife or hospitality industry.
The right candidate will:
- Bring verifiable experience improving revenue, labor efficiency and profitability
- Understand how to create demand without overspending on entertainment, promotions or labor
- Build systems and accountability while remaining actively involved on the floor
- Make decisions using sales, labor and operating data
- Move quickly while protecting service quality, safety and the guest experience
- Take responsibility for results instead of shifting blame between operations, marketing or employees
- Develop immediate priorities and produce measurable early progress
Revenue Growth Responsibilities
- Build and execute a weekly revenue-growth plan with measurable targets by night and revenue category
- Increase guest traffic, reservations, table bookings, private events and repeat visits
- Develop profitable promotions, partnerships and experiences that attract the venue’s target customers
- Grow average guest spending through stronger food, beverage, premium-service and experience sales
- Create a sales pipeline for birthdays, corporate gatherings, private parties and venue buyouts
- Identify revenue opportunities for underperforming days and operating periods
- Evaluate every event, entertainment arrangement and promoter based on attendance, revenue and actual profit
- Connect marketing campaigns to reservations, ticket sales, table bookings and in-venue spending
- Track revenue by source and clearly report what generated results, what failed and what will change
- Take direct ownership of closing the gap between current sales and the venue’s financial targets
Operational and Financial Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of nightly operations and overall venue performance
- Prepare weekly sales forecasts, operating budgets and profitability targets by night and event
- Build demand-based schedules and make real-time staffing decisions based on sales and guest volume
- Control labor costs without compromising safety, service or the guest experience
- Lead and hold accountable bartenders, servers, kitchen staff, floor leadership, security and event personnel
- Monitor sales, guest count, average transaction value and sales per labor hour
- Control inventory, purchasing, discounts, comps, voids, cash handling and waste
- Evaluate vendors, entertainment and outside partners based on financial value
- Coordinate event planning, preparation, execution and post-event review
- Maintain high standards for hospitality, appearance, conduct, safety and venue readiness
- Resolve operational and guest-service problems quickly and professionally
- Lead pre-shift meetings, employee coaching and performance management
- Enforce opening, closing, cash-control and emergency procedures
- Provide ownership with accurate nightly and weekly forecast-versus-actual reporting
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Five or more years of hospitality management experience
- Three or more years in a General Manager, Assistant General Manager or senior operations position
- Direct experience managing a nightclub, upscale lounge, high-volume bar or entertainment venue
- Documented experience improving or turning around an underperforming hospitality operation
- Demonstrated success increasing revenue within a nightlife or hospitality venue
- Direct responsibility for profit and loss, labor budgets, inventory and event profitability
- Experience generating private-event, table-service, group-booking or partnership revenue
- Strong understanding of nightlife operations, security, entertainment and promoter management
- Ability to analyze POS reports, financial results and sales data
- Strong leadership, accountability, conflict-resolution and team-development skills
- Ability to make difficult decisions and execute quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Availability to work on-site during nights, weekends, peak events and closing shifts
- Ability to provide specific, measurable examples of previous results
- Professional references who can verify the candidate’s operating and financial performance
- First aid, CPR, alcohol-service or other relevant hospitality certifications are advantageous
This Is Not a Promoter-Only Position
This role is not designed for someone whose primary strategy is booking entertainment, bringing in a crowd or posting on social media.
The successful candidate must understand complete venue operations, financial performance, labor deployment, inventory control, team development, guest experience and sustainable revenue growth. A busy venue is not necessarily a profitable venue.
Compensation and Schedule
- Full-time, on-site position
- Approximately 45–50 hours per week
- Must be available for late nights, weekends, closing shifts and major events
- Base salary of $60,000–$65,000, depending on relevant experience
- Additional performance incentives tied to sustainable revenue growth, labor control and operating profitability
The venue’s identity and specific location will be disclosed only to qualified candidates as they progress through the interview process.
We are an equal-opportunity employer and consider qualified applicants based on their experience, capabilities and demonstrated results.
