Responsibilities- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems under the guidance of experienced plumbers.
- Learn to select appropriate types and sizes of pipes, materials, and equipment according to project specifications.
- Inspect work sites to identify potential obstructions and ensure safe and effective pipe routing.
- Help plan installations and repairs to coordinate with other trades and minimize disruptions.
- Cut, thread, and fabricate pipes as needed for various projects.
- Assemble and install metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, and CPVC piping.
- Connect pipes using threaded, grooved, or cemented joints and secure them with brackets, clamps, and hangers.
- Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure and monitoring gauges.
- Observe and report any malfunctions in fabrication machines on job sites.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license required; assistance provided to obtain an Apprentice License.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and construction documents.
- Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Willingness to learn to read blueprints and isometric drawings.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly (occasionally up to 100 pounds).
- Comfort working in various environments, including wet or humid conditions, heights, and exposure to temperature extremes.
$20 and up per hour (based on experience and knowledge).
