What are the responsibilities and job description for the Two-Way Radio/Electronics Technician/Installer position at Nielson Communications, Inc.?
Job Description includes:
Installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of base stations, repeaters, remote controls, multiplexers, antenna systems, microwave systems, battery backup systems and mobile installation. Designing and assisting with system design and support of sales department will also be required.
Qualifications:
- 2 year degree in electronics field is highly desirable.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Must have capabilities with installation of two-way radios, mobile data equipment and public safety vehicles (police cars, fire trucks, etc).
- Basic knowledge of DC and trouble-shooting two-way radio mobile and base equipment.
- Knowledge of, or experience with, computer networking and Voice/Radio over IP is beneficial.
- Good computer skills required with ability to program, troubleshoot and/or perform system diagnostics on complex communication systems.
- Experience with dispatch consoles, wireless data and trunked radio systems a must.

- Able to work independently as well as in a team environment on large installation projects requiring skills in cabling, connectorization, and system optimization.
- Must be willing and able to work after normal business hours, on occasion, with some overnight travel.
Ideally, candidates would possess an industry license from a testing agency (FCC, FICA, or NARTE)
