Ophthalmic Assistant
Location: Quincy, MA (Travel required to Norwell, Norwood, and Weymouth)
Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Pay: $22.00 – $27.00 per hour (based on experience)
Nielsen Eye Center is hiring an Ophthalmic Technician / Scribe and we are open to training motivated candidates from the ground up or hiring candidates with prior experience in ophthalmology.

No prior ophthalmology experience is required — we are willing to train candidates who are dependable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
We are a multi-location ophthalmology practice specializing in LASIK, cataract surgery, retina care, and comprehensive eye exams. Travel between Quincy, Norwell, Norwood, and Weymouth offices is required.
Responsibilities
Ophthalmic Technician Duties
Obtain and document patient medical and ocular history
Perform visual acuity testing
Conduct pupil evaluation and extraocular motility testing
Measure intraocular pressure (IOP) using tonometry
Perform refraction (if trained)
Administer diagnostic testing including Visual Field Testing, A-scan Biometry, Corneal Topography, Pachymetry, Specular Microscopy, and tear function testing
Assist physicians with minor procedures, including intravitreal injections (if trained)
Maintain exam room cleanliness, stock supplies, and ensure proper equipment shutdown
Medical Scribe Duties
Accurately document physician findings in EMR in real time
Record diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and follow-up instructions
Support prescription refills and prior authorizations
Triage patient calls and communicate with pharmacies
Monitor clinic flow and communicate delays professionally

Reliable transportation for interoffice travel
Schedule
Monday and Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Occasional Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
