Objective
The Test Systems Engineer is responsible for assisting Test Systems Engineers in developing ATEs (Automated Test Equipment) that will adequately perform tests on a various automotive components. This function is carried out with excellence and thoroughness, demanding attention to detail, accuracy and technical competence.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with customers as required to develop test criteria and methods.
- Provide support in resolving technical issues to ensure test requirements are met.
- Diagnose faults and problems in mechanical, software, and electronic systems.
- An ability to interpret test results and provide an informed opinion or conclusion as to the outcome of this test.
- Develop/Build test systems with efficiency, flexibility and minimal cost without compromising quality.
- Produce and collate calibration documentation for the new and legacy test equipment
- Develop tester work instructions, drawings, and bills of materials.
- Perform other job related and support activity duties as required and directed.
Experience: 1 years’ Test Design Engineer experience. Electronics experience preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar preferred –or- a Developer Certification
Certifications: CLAD, CLD, CTD, CLED preferred, but not required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Software programming skills.
- Ability to design system level test hardware, understanding of analogue/digital interface circuitry, ability to analyze circuit diagrams for function in current designs.
- Test automation software experience with development tools\platforms such as National Instruments LabVIEW and/or TestStand.
- Understanding of Automation Test Equipment (ATE).
- Experience with communication protocols (RS-232, Ethernet, LIN, CAN, etc...)
- Knowledge of Omron CX-Programmer or other PLC development platforms and ladder logic programming, a plus.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Able to effectively plan and set priorities with efficient time management skills.
- Proactive, self-starter that delivers results on time and with high quality.
- Energetic, focused and a highly motivated self-starter.
