Nidec Instruments (America) Corporation (NIAC) is a leading producer of components and modules for home appliances and other industries.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team as an Engineering Coordinator. The ideal candidate for this position must be a highly organized, self-motivated, proactive team player with proficient interpersonal and communication skills as well as an exceptional ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities. Experience in product/component development and prototyping in the home appliance field or production technology and quality control is preferred. Bilingual (English/Japanese) read/write/speak ability is required. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Engineering Coordinator will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing various engineering projects:
- In conjunction with National Sales Account Managers, act as a liaison between company headquarter, NIAC, and customers to facilitate projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external engineers as required or requested.
- Represent NIAC with customers as an engineering partner.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project timelines and delivery schedules are met.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
- Review preliminary designs for Nidec requirements, function, and durability.
- Issue internal documentation such as specification and design changes made by customers.
Requirements
- Bi-lingual read/write/speak language ability in English and Japanese is required.
- BS in mechanical engineering preferred but combination of education and experience may be accepted.
- Minimum of 5 years proven work experience in product/component development and prototyping in the home appliance field is preferred.
- Experience in production technology and quality control is highly preferred.
- Familiar with motor technology.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Solid experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) and an ERP system (Syteline).
- Proven ability to juggle multiple projects at a time, while maintaining sharp attention to detail.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedule for conference calls with customers and overseas offices/plants.
- Ability to travel for customer visits, including international travel, to customers' production facilities as well as internal offices in Asia. A driver’s license and/or passport may be required for some travel.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs for customer presentations and demonstrations.
- U.S. work authorization without sponsorship required.
· EDUCATION:
- A 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred or a combination of education and experience may be accepted. Proof of degree will be required before a job offer can be issued.
