Nicomedia Steel is a growing, family-owned structural steel fabrication and erection company with a strong pipeline of commercial and public-sector projects across the DMV region. We specialize in delivering high-quality steel solutions while maintaining strict compliance, safety, and scheduling standards.
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager who understands the fast-paced, detail-driven world of steel construction and can confidently lead projects from kickoff through closeout.
Position Overview
The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of structural steel projects, including coordination with general contractors, subcontractors, detailers, and field crews. This role requires strong leadership, technical understanding of steel construction, and the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage structural steel projects from award through completion
- Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and project scope
- Coordinate with detailers, fabricators, and erection teams
- Develop and maintain project schedules and timelines
- Track project costs, budgets, and change orders
- Lead project meetings with clients, GCs, and internal teams
- Ensure compliance with local (DC/MD/VA) regulations and project requirements
- Oversee submittals, RFIs, and document control
- Monitor field progress and resolve issues proactively
- Ensure safety standards are upheld on all projects
Qualifications
- 3–7 years of project management experience in structural steel construction
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and shop drawings
- Experience working with general contractors and public-sector projects
- Familiarity with project management software (Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, etc.)
- Knowledge of local compliance requirements (DC preferred)
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in estimating or detailing
- OSHA certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required)
