Nicoll Black Altenbrun & Feig is a full-service law firm providing skilled representation to clients throughout the U.S. West Coast and around the world. Our primary expertise is in two practice areas: (1) maritime and transportation (typically representing interests of vessel owners) and (2) insurance and bad faith (representing insurance interests). Our attorneys have broad practices that also involve commercial litigation, insurance defense, personal injury defense, subrogation, intellectual property, casualty response, and transactions (e.g., vessel sales, corporate formation). We are seeking an associate to work on our maritime litigation and / or insurance coverage and bad faith defense teams in either our Seattle or San Francisco offices.  Qualifications: ·       A minimum of 3 years of experience, with at least 1 year of coverage experience preferred;·       Excellent research, writing, and communication skills;·       Ability to manage cases independently and work collaboratively in a team; ·       Active membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar and / or State Bar of California. Responsibilities (maritime litigation team): ·       Investigate maritime incidents (property damage, personal injury); ·       Represent clients in all phases of incident response, from investigation to litigation to appeal; ·       Draft and file pleadings, motions, and briefs;·       Conduct legal research and participate in written discovery;·       Conduct depositions and appear for court hearings and trials;·       Provide clients with strategic legal advice regarding resolving their problem, whether in litigation or not;·       Participate in settlement negotiations and mediations. Responsibilities (coverage and bad faith defense team): ·       Analyze coverage; ·       Draft coverage opinions and related correspondence; ·       Represent clients in all phases of bad faith litigation, from intake to trial; ·       Draft and file pleadings, motions, and briefs;·       Conduct depositions and appear for court hearings;·       Provide clients with strategic legal advice regarding their rights;·       Participate in settlement negotiations and mediations. Competitive salary and benefits based on experience.
