What are the responsibilities and job description for the Law Clerk position at Nicolet Law?
Job Overview:
Nicolet Law is looking for a motivated part-time or full-time Law Clerk to join our Personal Injury practice. Must be 3L in law school. The ideal candidate will provide support in all aspects of case preparation and case management, have an interest in legal writing, excellent communication skills and attention to detail, and an overall desire to help our clients and the community.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys and legal staff with a personal injury caseload including but not limited to auto accidents, dog bites, slip and fall, wrongful death, and other negligence-based claims
- Review and summarize case records including but not limited to insurance policies and records, medical and billing records, and police reports
- Draft and proof read legal correspondence and demand letters
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests
- Assist attorney with preparation for trial
Qualifications:
- Actively enrolled in law school as 3L
- Previous experience in a professional office environment
- Detail-oriented, responsible, and organized
- Self starter with ability to work as part of a team, manage and prioritize multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Client focused with a high level of professionalism and customer service; ability to handle confidential matters with discretion
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, growing office that focuses on client satisfaction and results
- Proficiency with legal research tools and case management software; Clio experience preferred but not required
- Comfortable speaking on the phone with excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook
- Strong leadership skills
Schedule:
- Part-time or full-time
- Day shift
- Flexible hours/days depending on class schedule
- In person at our Des Moines or Dubuque office
