About the Role
As a float, you will cover routes across our western, central, and southern Chicago suburban territory, including areas like Naperville, Aurora, Lombard, Elmhurst, Oak Brook, Downers Grove, Orland Park, Oak Lawn, and Homewood. You will collect blood samples at skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, with the flexibility to move between areas as coverage is needed. Shifts run 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Travel to offsite client locations to obtain blood samples, covering different routes as assigned
- Gather required patient information and verify patient identity
- Know phlebotomy procedures and the specimen type required for each test
- Follow strict medical standards so samples reflect the patient’s condition
- Accurately label specimens
- Transport specimens to the laboratory while maintaining specimen integrity
- Follow all safety and infection control practices
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a post-secondary phlebotomy program is advantageous
- Mobile phlebotomy experience preferred
- Experience working in long-term care (LTC) facilities preferred
- 2 years of phlebotomy experience with geriatric and disabled patients preferred
- Reliable personal transportation, plus the ability to travel between locations and perform draws in skilled nursing homes and assisted living facilities
- Valid driver’s license and valid insurance/registration
- Availability to start at 4:00 AM
- Must pass a drug screen and background check
