Job Overview
We are seeking a welder/fabricator for an outage/shutdown at the Steel Dynamics, Inc in Sinton, TX. Work is temporary, with possibility to go full-time depending on performance. Must be able to fabricate and weld pipe. Stick AND tig preferred, but MUST be able to stick.
DRUG SCREEN and SAFETY COUNCIL required for job site.
**2 RIG WELDERS NEEDED
Duties
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and fabrication shop drawings to ensure accurate assembly and welding of metal components.
- Perform various welding techniques including, TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
- Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math to verify dimensions and ensure precise fabrication.
- Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment for cutting, shaping, and assembling sheet metal and other metal materials.
- Fabricate metal structures by cutting, bending, welding, and assembling sheet metal and other materials following safety protocols at all times.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to all safety procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Collaborate with team members on construction site projects or fabrication shop tasks to meet project deadlines efficiently.
Experience
- Proven construction site experience or fabrication shop experience involving metalworking processes.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, and interpreting technical drawings.
- Hands-on experience with various welding techniques including TIG and SMAW.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools required for fabrication accuracy.
- Mechanical knowledge related to assembly, machining, plasma cutting, sheet metal fabrication, and use of hand tools.
- Understanding of safety protocols relevant to welding environments and construction sites.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations necessary for fabrication tasks; familiarity with shop math is preferred.
Pay: $32.00 - $36.00 per hour
Expected hours: 48.0 – 60.0 per week
