Job Description – Steel Fabricator/Welder Laborer
Position Summary
Immediate opening for a dependable and hardworking Steel Fabricator/Welder/ Laborer to fabricate, assemble, and weld structural, miscellaneous steel and other metal components in a small, niche fabrication shop. The ideal candidate will be able to work safely with hand and power tools, read basic measurements and drawings, and perform general shop labor as needed. Reading and understanding AutoCAD is a MUST.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist with the fabrication and assembly of structural and miscellaneous steel components.
· Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and other metalworking duties as assigned.
· Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, saws, grinders, and other fabrication equipment safely.
· Measure, mark, cut, fit, and prepare, includes painting, steel materials according to specifications and shop drawings.
· Perform MIG, stick, or other welding processes as required.
· Grind and finish welds and steel surfaces as needed.
· Load, unload, move, and organize steel materials using proper equipment and safe lifting practices.
· Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store tools and materials.
· Inspect completed work for quality and report defects or problems to the supervisor.
· Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Perform general labor and other duties as assigned to support shop and field operations.
Qualifications
· Previous experience in steel fabrication, welding, construction, or general labor preferred.
· Ability to read and understand CAD Drawings.
· Basic knowledge of welding and metal fabrication techniques preferred.
· Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic mathematical calculations.
· Ability to safely operate a forklift, common hand and power tools.
· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
· Ability to work independently.
· Must be dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift and carry heavy materials.
· Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
· Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, welding helmet, and steel-toed boots.
· Ability to work in a fabrication shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, sparks, fumes, varying temperatures and other typical conditions associated with steel fabrication and welding.
Must have reliable transportation.
